The Time Of The Hawklords is the first volume in a trilogy of titles (mostly) by author and Savoy Books co-founder Michael Butterworth, “based on an idea by Michael Moorcock”. It was followed by Queens Of Deliria (1977, credited solely to Butterworth) and some years later by a graphic novel, Ledge Of Darkness (1994), with an “initial script” by Butterworth and “plot hijack and artwork” by Bob Walker. All three books feature the Hawklords, “entirely fictitious [characters] based on roles used by members of Hawkwind on stage and recorded performances”. The Time Of The Hawklords has twice been revised by Butterworth (see below)…
