There have been two different short-fiction appearances of (or from) Count Brass, first volume in the second of two separate series featuring Duke Dorian Hawkmoon von Köln.
The first appearance — a pre-publication extract from the novel — was in November 1972, an abridged (or early) version of Book Two, Chapter Five of the book itself which was published in March 1973.
The second appearance (see below) — a two-part serialisation of the entire novel — was in 1975.
