This extract from the novel of the same name appeared in Interzone No. 1, dated Spring (i.e. March) 1982. It is a heavily edited (“substantially different”) version of Chapter Two of the book which itself was published in March 1982. It is not possible to know which appeared first.
The Brothel in Rosenstrasse, a dark tale of erotomania, features a member of the Family von Bek, various generations of which began appearing in Moorcock’s works (often based around their curious relationships with both Lucifer and the Holy Grail) from the early 1980s onwards. Unlike the other titles, however, Brothel… has no fantastic content.
